Using common app. rec/school report forms for colleges. help anyone?

I'm planning to send out common app. recommendation forms and school report for colleges that are not members of the common application: U-Chicago, Columbia, and MIT.

Would this cause a great deal of problem?

YES. Don't do it unless you want to give them an excuse to not even look at your application. Follow their directions! Use the forms those colleges ask you to use.

Use the schools own form. There is a reason they don't use the Common Application...they don't accept it.

thanks. wow, I now realize how foolish this thread is.

but its still okay to submit common app. rec letters for schools that DO accept them, correct? For northwestern and many other schools for example, accept both the common app. and the unique application of their own. I'm using the college-unique online application. Would it be okay to send in common app. recs and school reports? After all, they do give the choice between the two. I just don't want to burden my teachers and councellor in a stash of paperload.

Wow, these people are all flipping out. It's not foolish. I emailed a college that didn't use the Common App (UVA) and they said it would be just fine.

Call the admissions office of each school and make sure it's ok with the schools you're applying to.

It depends on the school...should call them to be sure.

I definitely think U-chicago would have a problem with it...after all, they use the UN-common application.
