I posted this information on the "who applied" thread, but thought that it merited its own thread.

I know that you all are anxious to know how many applied this year. An email was just sent out from the admissions office to students and families associated with Olin. The numbers are actually a little lower this year, because the deadline was moved up from January 1 to December 1. I'm really not surprised because I remember how busy the end of the first semester of the senior year in high school is. When my son applied to colleges a few years back, he used his winter break to finalize a lot of applications.

Anyway... the numbers are as follows:

964 applicants for the class of 2012. That is 90 less than last year, most likely due to the change in the application deadline.

47 states and the District of Columbia are represented. The states without any applicants are Kansas and North and South Dakota.

There are 74 applicants who are not U.S. citizens, of this number 35 do not attend school in the U.S.

74% men 26% women, which is a ratio similar to last year.

This year's applicants tended to wait until the last minute to apply; 60% applied three days prior to the application, 35% the day before the application, many waited until it was close to midnight in their timezone.

At this point you just need to relax. There is nothing you can do now but wait, and whatever happens, happens. I'm sure you all applied to great schools and you will be happy and successful wherever you end up.

Good luck to you all.
