I was reading the little blog put out by the admissions department at Olin and they apparently had 781 applicants for next year's class. That compares to 567 in 2010. Not sure what they did to boost the numbers, but whatever it was, it sure seems to have paid off. Goodness knows they sent a lot of e-mails to my daughter.

Apps in 2012 are the same as 2011. In 2010 apps were 567. Why did they increase? Because Olin is a fabulous school. I hope your daughter gets a chance to find out.

The 2010 applicants were the first ones after change to half tuition scholarship (previously free tuition). That made the application qty dip, but I think it’s on the upswing due to all the great reviews etc.

Ah. I was just getting the numbers from their common data set, which I had presumed referred to last year. Looking at it now, I see it’s referring to the 2010-2011 freshman class, so yeah, not this year’s class, but the one before.

Rayrick - That’s terrific! Will you be going too? DH went with our son to CW. They both were converted from mild interest to enthusiastic Olin fans.

Unless work constraints get in the way (the ‘weekend’ to which my daughter was invited actually includes a Friday), I will indeed be the one going with her. Looking forward to it!
