Hello fellow MIT lovers. I’m a sophomore who is just beginning his journey. I was wondering if you could explain the application process and the what MIT looks at when you apply. Thanks a lot!
@SpongeMan Go to MIT’s website first. It will tell you a lot about the application process.
I just read it and what I am getting from it is they look at your SAT, Subject Tests, Grades, Essay, Recommendation, and 5 extracurricular. Could you confirm if that is it? Nothing else (sorry really worried)
@Spongeman mostly. I don’t remember having to write a full-length essay for the MIT application; rather, it is a bunch of short-answer questions.
You should also do an interview, if available.
Unless you are applying early, you don’t really need to worry about most of this. Instead, focus on doing the best you can in HS, then worry about applying later.
First, that is a lot less than I originally thought. Secondly, thanks a lot! MIT is such a great school and I really wanna be a part of its wonderful culture.
@SpongeMan Well, I never said it was an all-inclusive list. There are very likely other things that MIT considers, including possibly some that I am unaware of.
I encourage you to read the following site, in particular, the blog entries at the bottom:

Good luck!
