Is it possible to re submit or fix an error on your supplement application on common app ?

Once something is submitted, it’s too late FOR THAT SCHOOL. However, if you need to change your main essay because you found a typo, you can split off a new version of the main Common App and submit all future schools with the improved essay.

It is also possible to have different versions of the main essay, but admissions officers recommend against it. The essay is supposed to be common - they do want you to be able to sleep once in a while. Also, it’s too easy to change your essay to “and that’s why XYZ is a perfect fit for me” and send it to ABC. Major bummer.

^Would they know if you did change essays though? Do the admissions offices get an updated version? I kind of want to use one of my supplemental essays (what makes you unique?) as my common app essay but I can’t very well use it as the common app essay AND supplemental essay for that particular school.

To the OP - what kind of mistake was it? Minor mistakes, such as typos in your short answer, aren’t too big of a deal. It’d be better if it wasn’t there, but it won’t make or break an application. If it’s a huge mistake, like spelling your name wrong, then I think you can call the admissions office and ask them to fix it. Though, I must admit that doesn’t sound pleasant.

You can’t submit different versions on this year’s Common App.

@glasses - Are you sure it’s changed for this year? My son did it last year, and the instructions are still there (I just checked). If you go to [Support Center](http://s3.parature.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=5524) and search for “version” it gives instructions.

It looks like we’ll be able to save and submit different versions for different schools but not until Oct 19.
