My child applied to 4 colleges thus far using the common app and omitted a word
can that be rectified? I have heard you cannot change the common app once it was submitted. Also my child mispelled "lose" by putting "loose" on an Ivy League essay.
Do you think the admissions office should be contacted ? or just hope they don't notice?

What is already submitted can’t be changed. However you can create a new essay for colleges not yet submitted, see instruction below:

My opinion is do not contact the colleges if it’s already pass the applying deadline. It won’t be fair to other students if colleges allow for changes from students who contact them.

However, if it’s not past the applying deadline, then I say contact admissions and ask if you can sent a replacement. One of my students accidentally hit the submit button on the supplemental form for a college that the application deadline is Feb 2013. Admissions said no problem, she can email them a replacement.

Hope this helps. Good luck! :)

Can definately create different “versions” of the Common App…whether it’s to fix errors or just to submit apps with different elements for different schools. If it’s just an omitted word don’t sweat it. Personally I wouldnt care about the fairness to other students…but I think it’s drawing attention to what amounts to a little tiny mistake.

I dont think you can do that. Sorry man
