Hello, everyone! I am applying to lots of schools this year, however my top choice would certainly be Andover. So, I am applying for 11th grade. I have SAT of 1840. (C.R. - 500, Maths - 740, W - 600). I hold lots of leadership positions in school such as House Captain ( I am currently studying in a Brittish school) and the Head of Student Council. I had also helped to organize lots of charity events in our school. I am very good at sports, especially football, basketball and swimming ( I have won inter-school football cup twice and our city swimming challenge) and very good artist as well ( I am going to send my drawings to the Amission office). I got silver award for the UK Maths Challenge twice. Oh yeah, the first time I'd taken TOEFL, I got 107. My grades are the best in the whole year group ( 6 As and 2 Bs). I also play guitar and sing quite well.
So, what are my chances of getting in? Please, reply!!!

Re-post on “Prep School Admissions”. You’re more likely to get a response there.

Is English your first language! If not, how long have you been in an Enlsh speaking environment?

No, english is not my first language. I live in Kazakhstan, therefore IDK if it is right to call it an English speaking environment. However, I have been studying in the only independent Brittish School in Central Asia for 3 academic years.

Nur008,

Andover is dedicated to providing an education to “youth from every quarter.” So, concentrate on writing compelling essays that focus on your passions and unique experiences as a person who lives in Kazakhstan. These essays may be decisive. So, really polish them.

I would also contact the football, basketball, and swimming coaches. You don’t need to be a recruited athlete to be admitted as a new Upper (eleventh grader) at Andover. But it can help if you otherwise have what it academically takes.

Because getting accepted as a new Upper to Andover is particularly challenging, repeating tenth grade is an option for you if you so indicate on your application. I think it is a mistake to do so since it delays college and adds an extra year of prep school expenses; however, many people disagree with me.

I wish I could rate your chances of admission. But neither I nor anyone outside the admission office can reliably do that for you. Being from Kazakhstan, however, will make your application unique. And there is nothing in your grades or test scores that rule out your candidacy.

The truth is that getting admitted to Andover is a reach for everyone. Give it your best best shot. And good luck on your application!

It might help if you learnt how to spell British :)

^ Thats just unnecessary.
