application withdrawal

I applied early to delaware (the dec1st deadline) but got into jhu early decision, which requires the withdrawal of my other applications. I sent in a signed letter requesting the termination of my application in early-mid January.

I got a letter back from umd college park very promptly but not from ud yet.
Last week, I recieved either a likely letter or a process of my application letter from delaware. (I assume it is a standard process letter but i am not sure.)

My online application says that they have recieved all of my application materials. The last thing I want to do is take someone else's space when i am not going there for sure. Has anyone had similar problems with their application? I'm guessing that very few people who withdrew their application are still hangin in this board but i thought i would give it a shot. Thanks

I will advice that you call the school and email them in case they didn't get the letter.

yea i guess i'll have to. thanks.
anyone else have similar troubles?

i'm sure this won't be relevant to many people in this forum, but if you withdraw your application to UD, make sure you call too. They had recieved my letter and processed it but still were reviewing my application. It sounds strange but i guess that admissions can get pretty hectic at large school with tens of thousands of applicants.

My sense is that this is a bit of an achilles heel for Blue U. Have had monumental issues with their "failure to communicate." Always very nice, cordial; often very inconsistent and either unable or unwilling to follow through.

Last week I was told about a specific situation, and when I brought attention of printed and online material, 'twas "gee, guess you're right." Unfortunately this is not the 1st time. Trying not to allow this failed bureaucracy to color the enthusiasm. But reality is that you get what you pay for. And that's the fundamental diff between the public and private sectors. UDel is among the best of the former, it seems, and still mass education which can be challenging to satisfy when one's principal concern is my little Johnny, and I don't give a hoot about the gazillion other little Johnnies they have to deal with.

it was kind of a "gee, guess you're right" when i called too. But your right, UD is a great school. It was one of my safeties (along with UMCP) but I know I would be happy going there.

Whistle Pig, funny story with UD's failure to communicate. They are nice, but it is normally a game of getting transferred to different offices by phone. I transferred and they had a very difficult time actually sending my transcript out but after I transferred they somehow managed to put me on the graduating list (I had just finished my freshman year) and they notified my high school and it was in my town newspaper that summer that I graduated with a bachelors from UD. I called Delaware to fix the situation but just last week I recieved a mail order form to buy a frame for the diploma I recieved... so yes I'd have to say they have communication problems. Just thought I'd share my story, I found it amusing.

Such are the very real realities of the megaU's like UD. Rarely, does one get more than he/she pays for. Often less. Because most of us ... over 85% now ... attend these cattle-calling institutions, we "settle", happy just to be there, especially on Sat afternoon at the tailgate or @ that nite's bash. It's sad. And UDel is among the best of 'em, way more focused on undergraduate education than most.
