"Applications (for 2013) Now Open"?

The admissions site says that the application process is now open for the class of 2013. When I go to the application page, it has my information submitted for Summer Seminar, but I do not see how to continue the application process. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing they will add the other sections soon. Just be patient.

Thanks so much.

The "Just be patient" may just be the hardest part of the process. I know there were times when Buckaroo went crazy waiting for something to happen. But ds is correct, just be patient.

My sections are up. There is a list of forms that I have yet to complete. It do not know if mine was updated today.

Okay, mine is up and ready, but I am having a problem. The first form #148 which "must be printed and taken to your high school office" won't print out properly. The second page prints but the first page comes out blank. Has anyone else had this problem?

Sorry dauntless, mine is working ok. Try playing with your print preview settings.

For all of those who went to USNA summer seminar - what are you putting under the Candidate Fitness Assessment page?

Ok i have a question do u bhave to be competitive to get all the applications online becasue i havent got mine yet...and when do u get them...and i am class of 2013 because i got my USNA candidate stuff already and im just being patiend for the AFA which is my first choice..thanks

When did the sections come up and did anyone get a nomination yet.....and did u guys (in general) get the sections since you went to the Air Force Academy Camp

upatel23 -
I checked July 1st and they were up. Also, I won't be interviewed for my noms until November and won't know until December (this is what the letters said from my senators). The nominations will be different for everyone though.

Upatel, 1st contact your ALO if you have any questions, they speak with the regionals frequently and can give you the correct answer for your situation, we can only speculate! Also you will work hand and hand with your ALO during the next 9 months. He/She also will be part of the equation for your WCS...his rec. carries weight and is a part of the WCS.

If history proves itself, the only people who will get a nom during the summer will be Presidential.

Spend the summer practicing you CFA, so you can max. Remember the AFA is concerned with the CFA scores b/c of the alt. they don't want to see low numbers knowing when you get there your body will need to adjust to this.

Also realize, that the earliest the board meets is end of OCT, and will continue to meet weekly. Once your packet goes up, unless you have new info(new SAT/ACT, GPA, sports, etc) You are given a WCS. The person with the highest WCS wins!

Your application status will change from applicant to candidate as soon as you get a nom.

Finally, every parent will tell you be patient, this will be the hardest time, clearing hurdles and watching threads when someone hears something and you don't. Remember it is different for everyone...a person with an LOA and a Presidential nom, basically will meet the board in Oct and have their appt. then. The person with no LOA with an MOC that does not submit names until Jan, will have to wait for the mass mailing in March.

thanks alot and i will contact my ALO ASAP and so where are the applications for the Class of 2013 because i filled out my forms and it still says

Your Status:
Applicant* (your application is under consideration)
Your Application is:
Not Competitive

2013...???

Somebody pinch me.

Seriously. That's means we're going to be FIRSTIES in no time at all! CRAZINESS I SAY! :)

What is your SAT or ACT? The AFA has scores that they consider to be non competitive, which means until you meet that mark they will normally not consider you.

This is straight from their selection site
Students who score below 580 verbal and 560 math on the SAT Reasoning and below 24 English/reading and 25 math/science reasoning on the ACT normally will not be competitive for an appointment
I have taken ACTs and they are

20 - English
28 - Math
25 - Reading
25 - Science
25- Overall

Try taking the SAT. Some kids do better on that. Keep re-taking the test and remember it is about the Whole Candidate, not just academics, but they play a very large part in the selection.

I can't recall off the top of my head but I believe the overall is @28-30.

Your package isn't due until Mar...keep plugging away

if you wait till mar to send everything in though your chances will be hurt some, since most of the slots are almost decided by then

Speaking of that. Quick question. When do the first round of kids have everything sent in an finished? Will they start making selections from those kids right away, or wait for "the majority" to finish the application before they send out LOA's...(or whatever they decide to send)?

The majority will be sent out in March, but LOAs will start going out as early as October.
