I literally sent my common application three minutes late (it says 1/16/2010 and not the deadline 1/15/2010). Will this negatively affect my application status? Thanks.

I’m wondering the same thing. My S had two applications due on the 15th, one in the midwest and one on the west coast. We live on the west coast, so he figured that he had until midnight in both places. He was second guessing his supplemental essays and rewriting…and rewriting…and rewriting. He sent the one to the midwest at 9:45 PM our time and the one to the west coast at 11:45 PM our time, yet both say submitted on 1/16. Does this mean anything? I mean anything bad?

He will probably be ok.

Admission offices often stress the deadline because they dont want to deal with thousands of kids sending in stuff unstructured and late.
The only institutions that i could imagine would give you a hard time are those with far too many qualified applicants. If you can cherry-pick, the ones who can’t conform to a deadline are usually the first to go.

But in 90% of the cases you’ll be ok as long as it’s only an hour, not a week.
