Applied For Fall, Accepted Summer B

Hey Everyone,

Congrats to everyone who was accepted in the past hour and for those who didn't, keep your heads up!

I have a quick question about the 'prestige' of Summer B vs. the Fall term. I had applied/requested to start the term this Fall and was accepted with this message instead:

"Congratulations! After a careful and thorough review of your academic record, you have been admitted to the 2011 Summer B University of Florida freshman class! The Admission Committee made every effort to accommodate your preferred term of entry; however, this year's highly qualified freshman applicants along with the university's limited space made this impossible."

While I'm really excited to be accepted I'm just a little curious to what this means "in between the lines" but I understand what it literally means in terms of start dates etc.

Here are some of my credentials:
GPA: 3.95
Weighted: 4.8
SAT: 1290
I'm also a nationally competitively bike racer.

Does this mean I didn't make the cut academically? Thanks for any insight!

I dunno how it works - same thing happened to me as well. After searching around, it seems it could be budget, randomness, what you said, or what they said (they have a buncha qualified students and limited space). I’m don’t have phenomenal stats, but some of my friends have stats the same/less than mine and were admitted into Fall. And you can still ask for Fall as well, I think.

Really, though, I’m asking the same question. I’m just glad we got Summer B instead of Spring.

Your stats are good for Fall. Looking through the forum, many people got in to Fall with lower stats than you. I think its either random or perhaps you applied late? I applied for Summer B and got in but I obviously want Fall…only applied to Summer to absolutely get in.

The stats are not a factor when they switch you to summer, the space is what matters, if a lot of people decline UF offer of admission then people from Summer or Spring can begin in Fall.
