I have heard of students requesting Fall and receiving Summer B over the years. But I hadn't heard of students requesting summer B and receiving Fall admission. My son applied for Summer B and received Fall. We are all happy that he got in, but he really wanted to start in the summer and get used to this large university campus. Our daughter went summer B and thought it was the best way to get to know UF in a more gradual way. Others have said the same.

Do you think there was a glitch in the admission system? Or, on the reverse, Did you apply for Fall and receive summer B?

My only thought is that maybe they got way too many summer B applications because students thought they would have a better chance of getting in. They had to switch out some students.
My son ranks 15/700....3.98 UW/4.6 UF GPA....30 ACT...instate

Here is what they said in the admission email…thoughts?

Congratulations! After a careful and thorough review of your academic record, you have been admitted to the 2010 Fall University of Florida freshman class!

The Admission Committee made every effort to accommodate your preferred term of entry; however, this year’s highly qualified freshman applicants along with the university’s limited space made this impossible.

yeah I applied for Fall 2010 but got accepted for Spring 2011. At first I was upset but now I am very grateful to even have the opportunity to become a gator.

How you you assure anyone that UF will change their term.
Since they had a record number of applicants this year and have lowered the amount accepted I would think that they will not be making changes as easily as they did before. Many were put from fall to summer or spring 2011. If UF had planned on not having it that way and granting every request they simply would have accepted everyone for the term they requested.
It’s an unfortunate situation for those who didn’t get what they requested but it’s better than not being accepted at all as many were not.
From what I have been told from someone who works at the college, this is the first time he has ever seen so many kids not get the term they wanted.
