<p>it sux every year, i remeber it used to be good b4 1996, later, it got modernized and now it's mixed btwn modern and tradition, which is really wierd/bad!.</p>
<p>OMG TODAY, PRACTICALLY EVERY ASIAN PERSON AT MY SCHOOL (which is not a lot actually) SAID "HAPPY CHINESE/AZN NEW YEAR!" WHEN THEY SAW ME.</p>
<p><em>sigh</em>...I went night fishing with a bunch of friends while my parents and their friends played mahjong the whole night- we had a huge BBQ...when I got back, the CCTV-tradition-springfestival gala was replaying over and over and over and over and over again...it doesn't go away...But the food's nice. I think I gained like pounds in the past week...soooo much suga...and food. Yummm....:) </p>

<p>Catch 22 - do you get access to all 8 CCTV channels? Could you get all 8? Most of the ppl I know only get CCTV 1 or 4 or something.</p>

<p>I get 4 and 9, but my parents' friends get two others and another set of channels: TVS, TVBS, TVB, ATV, and then a string of mainland channels (I want this package soooo bad for my dish!!!). The cable network screwed us over...we signed this one year contract only to realize that we should have gotten a bigger package...so, the contract expires in April, and I'm set to get more CCTV and like ten more channels in addition to the few that I have now...can't wait. </p>
<p>Funny story, I almost fell into the lake and drowned night fishing: my mom's warning me that rabbits are gonna suffer some horrible fate if I don't watch out because it's the year of the rooster...and on top of that, I ran my bike into a garbage bin today... <em>sigh</em>...Biking...now that's what I call cultural pride...:)</p>

<p>My parents couldn't find a "hong bao" so they just found some random red wrapper and wrapped the money in it and just gave it to me.</p>
<p>I actually don't watch CCTV that much. The news shows on it sucks. I like Phoenix TV and the Taiwanese and HK channels. The mainland channels are pretty good, too. </p>
<p>When I hit Penn, I'm gonna hopefully subscribe to the "online" chinese Channels...where you pay a monthly fee and basically get access to every channel in China. Let's hope that works out.</p>
<p>i got 100 in the red envelope for my birthday but i didn't want it. i know that sounds stupid but i really didn't need it b/c whatever money i use comes from them and i feel bad because we're not exactly loaded.</p>
