So the title of this thread is pretty self-explanatory.

I stalk this forum everyday and I figure some of you guys do the same so why not have a bit of fun? Oh yeah, and try to say something more than the usual, “it’s in a great city”, or “it’s very diverse”.

Penn is my first choice bcuz it’d damn awesome. But here are the following reasons. (in no particular order)

cheese steak…(nuff said)

Hemos (ibid)

Wharton Business School and it’s pre-professional economics education.

Biggest international presence in the ivies and other top schools for that matter.

(okay I couldn’t resist) the city of brotherly love and it’s proximity to D.C., New York, etc.

the internship opportunities that come with a Wharton (or Penn for the matter) education

the sushi at Houston Hall

the driven yet “knows how to have fun” reputation of the students

The quad.

many others I can’t remember right now

Anyway, I’m a loser for posting this on Thanksgiving, but happy Thankgiving! to everyone.

oh, and it’d be interesting to know what you would do if you got accepted? or (knock on wood) rejected?

for me:
if accepted: cry oh and also run around my neighborhood naked. (i believe its called streaking)
if rejected: cry :(

the one thing about the quad that i looked up yesterday (any penn students correct me if im wrong) but after looking at the numbers, it looks like only half the freshmen actually get to dorm in the quad. is this true?

^ yep it's true.
i wanna room in the quad or king's court/english house. they have their own dining hall. YUMMMM.

HEMOS

center city philly = amazing

lots of research opportunities

close to home-ish

king of prussia

the button ;)

accepted: CRY (happily, of course) go down to philly and buy lots of penn apparel!
rejected: CRY and die a little on the inside.

rhyn0, hemo's is the best food truck on the planet.
he's so cooooool and amazing. i went to him everyday over the summer. he knows my SAT score. hahahaha.

if you ever get the opportunity to go there, order a grilled chicken sandwich. they're the best. make sure you get the sauce.

children's hospital of philadelphia (i would sell my soul to be able to work there)

not penn state shirts

the city

accepted: when i get the letter, cry. the next day at school, show up naked to calc. my teacher is an insecure 23 year old and i don't think he'd have the balls to suspend me

rejected: sit in the school conference room and cry all day. my friend (who has lived and breathed yale for like.. 10 years) actually got this cleared with the principal, so it's a done deal.

close to home but not TOO close to home (~2 hour)

diversity

campus

it's the "social ivy"

quad

it's Penn

only ivy league school with actuarial science major

the quad

philly cheese steaks =))) yummm

accepted: cry cry cry, tell my friend he doesn't have to lick the floor (because he said he is "so sure" I will get in that if I don't he will lick the floor of my AP Calc class), cry more, delete all my other apps that I'm halfway done with

rejected: pray for Berkeley and work on my other apps. Oh, and cry and enter a state of depression for a week or so.

jcll2002, i didn't do a program there (unless you count doing summer tennis programs in elementary/middle school. haha). i worked there as a lab assistant / did research.

"What's awesome about Penn" has already been exhausted so I'll just go with possible reactions:

I still don't know what time they post the decisions on Penn Portal, so I'm going to assume 5pm EST, which is 7am in the morning for me (currently exchange student in Japan).
Accepted to Huntsman: totally freak out, call my parents despite the long distance, post it on facebook, will be ridiculously happy and not mind my hour commmute to school (40 minutes of which are on a bike). Tell all my Japanese friends I got into college!!
Accepted to just Wharton: probably be disappointed it's not Huntsman, but be relieved I got accepted, and probably do the above.
Rejected: I don't really know. Probably cry. Probably ask my host mom if I don't have to go to school because I'll be so depressed. Finally finish the last few essays for honors and scholarships my mom has been nagging me about.

Is ANYONE at all interested in CAS? Why is everyone here a Whartonite wannabe? Sure, it's a great school, but I find it odd that most of the CC poster on this forum just come for Wharton.

of course there are people doing CAS. i wanna be in CAS for somethign bio related. wharton doesn't exactly have that...other than vagelos, which is half CAS anyway.
