Apply for housing tomorrow or wait?

I understand that the first day to apply for housing is tomorrow. It looks like you need to pay $50 to apply, and that they'll send housing contracts out starting in November based upon the order that you apply for housing. The website also says you must send in a $300 deposit before the expiration date on the contract or you will lose your place. But it doesn't explain how much time you'll have between the time you receive the contract and its expiration date.

If you are applying to other colleges and don't know for sure if you're going to UT would it still be a good idea to apply for housing right away or to wait until later? Does anyone know how long you have to send in the $300 before the contract expires? What happens if you don't know where you're going to school until April?

Unless the $50 application fee is going to make a difference whether can afford to eat tommorrow or not, you may as well apply now and pay the $50. It's still going to cost $50 to apply for housing whether you do it now or later.

If you apply now, you get a better choice of dorms. It could will also give you a better chance at getting a private bath vs. a community bath. Just consider it part of your cost to apply to UT.

UT will not send you a housing contract until after you accept their offer of admission. If you do not accept until April, they will not send you a contact until Apil. Housing preferences are based on application date, not when you submit a housing contract.

Thanks, m. That was helpful.
