Ok so 5 of the 9 schools I am applying to have EA, so im thinking why not apply to all of them? I want to apply to BC, Villanova, Georgetown, Providence, and UConn EA. If i can, why not? Will admissions officers see that i'm applying to 4 other schools EA, and will this decrease my chances of getting in?

It should have no impact on your getting in, and I highly doubt colleges (especially the ones you listed) share a list of who's applied where; they have too much to do to bother with that.

So go ahead and apply EA to whereever you want.

EXCEPT Georgetown.
G-town has it's own policy where you can only apply there EA.

My suggestion, apply to the other 4 schools EA, and G-town as RD.

Do realize that it may be more difficult to get into BC EA. I think their website says so.

for bc, the admittance rate is considerably higher EA, but the applicant pool is also more qualified.

so georgetown has early action restricted then?

Johnson181 misunderstands Georgetown's policy. If all the other schools are EA (and not ED) you can apply to Georgetown EA as well. Georgetown's only restriction is that you cannot apply anywhere else ED.

From Georgetown's website:
[quote]
In keeping with this principle, students applying under the Early Action program may not apply at the same time to binding Early Decision programs since they then would not be free to choose Georgetown if admitted. Students are welcome to apply to other Early Action programs or other Regular Decision programs while at the same time applying to Georgetown's Early Action program.

The type of restriction that Johnson is talking about is Single Choice Early Action - those restrictions are in force at Yale and Stanford, but not at Georgetown. So go ahead and apply EA to as many EA schools as you want.

sweeeet thanks guys

Chedva- that's what I thought, until someone on here corrected me a few months ago (pre 2008 applications being released).
When I went to their site to check on this, it said that while it was not SEAS, you could not apply to any other school EA.

I guess they've changed it for this application year then...

No, it was true last year as well. I know several people who did this (and weren't cheating the system). I think you may have misread the site, in addition to getting incorrect information. Happens even here!
