apply undecided then transfer?

Northwestern
Rice
MIT
UPenn
UTexas - Austin
RPI
Case Western
Carnegie Mellon</p>

<p>I definetly want to do engineering, but I'm scared that I won't get into the engineering college. Is it better to apply undecided to college of arts and sciences (or equivalent) and transfer for any of these schools or should I just apply straight to engineering?</p>

<p>Most importantly get in then transfer. Once you're in and at least do 1/2 decent you can transfer to eng. as the weaker students drop the program to make room for you. Plus, you might find something you like better than eng., and if you do finally go eng., all won't be lost as you get distrib. req. out of the way.</p>
