Is it possible to apply to Amherst as a first-year if you’re in college, but haven’t graduated yet?
(I’ve searched the Amherst site but can’t find anything on restrictions for first year applicants…)

https://www.amherst.edu/admission/apply/transfer

“You are eligible for transfer admission to Amherst if you have completed at least one year as a full-time student at a college or university. To be competitive, you should have at least a B+ average in your college courses. We will not accept your application if you’ve already earned a bachelor’s degree.”

er, thanks for the info, but I meant applying as a first year student, not a transfer.

Do you mean that you want to apply now to enter in Fall of 2010?

If you are already attending a college this year then you would be applying for transfer.

I have read the OP a dozen times and still can’t figure out the question!

The OP has already begun to pursue a degree at an undergraduate institution, but wants to enter Amherst as a first year instead of as a transfer.

I don’t know if that’s possible. But, the OP could find out by making a short phone call to the Office of Admission.
