<p>I wanted to know if it is possible to apply to a school as a freshman, even though I've completed 1 year at a college. Example I go to the University of Rhode Island, and have wanted to go to Northeastern for ever. They don't take transfers to their pharmacy program, but does anyone know if it is possible to say apply to Northeastern's pharmacy program as a freshman, despite completed 1, maybe 2 years at another college?</p>

<p>Wanting to start over doesn’t sound odd at all. I was actually at URI myself for two years and finally am transferring this fall, wishing I could restart freshman year, but I don’t think any schools allow that. Is it that you really want to transfer? or is Northeastern the only place you’ll consider? If not, try looking into some other schools that do accept pharmacy transfers.</p>
<p>It sounds like this is a situation where it is a 4 year program you can’t transfer into. You will probably have to call them up and ask if it is ok for you to apply to the program and assume none of your credits will transfer. There are other pharm programs you can probably transfer into though.</p>
<p>And come to the conclusion that the OP can apply as a fr after having taken 1-2 years of post-HS college credits? It’s not how many credits you WANT to transfer, it’s how many you TOOK that determine whether you are considered a fr or transfer applicant.</p>
<p>An- I really want to transfer. Northeastern was my number one and I was admitted for engineering, but my parents talked me out of it for cost. It is my dream school, and I am considering other schools. I’m also changing to pharmacy, and am a year behind. I REALLY don’t want to be at URI for 7-8 years. Northeastern was an example, only because they don’t take transfers.</p>
<p>Entomom- thanks for the help. This is not something that I really thought was possible. I thought I read on the boards someonedoing this a while back, but I think I’m mistaken. I’ve seen that on northeastern website and didn’t really have high hopes anyway.</p>
<p>^My last comment was really for onorenhjin because I can’t understand how they can read NEUs definition of a transfer and still say that it’s possible for you to qualify as a fr.</p>
<p>I don’t know of any schools that consider someone who has completed 1+ yr of post-HS college as a fr applicant, so I’m afraid starting over is not an option. </p>
<p>Wish I could help, but unfortunately I’m not familiar with Pharm schools and programs so I can’t recommend ones that will accept transfers.</p>
<p>Yeah, I completely understand. I don’t necessarily want to “start over”, but certain pharmD programs are 6 years only, so my question would be not if I can apply as a “freshman” per say, but apply to the 6 year program starting from the beginning. It is probably something I can’t do, but would have to most likely talk to Northeastern about it if it is possible.</p>

<p>I took a look earlier, and the only possible one I found is “Other College Majors”, but I’m not sure how much traffic that forum gets. The only other suggestion I can give you is to try the Parents forum because the parents are generally helpful and some might be pharmacists themselves or have kids in Pharm.</p>
<p>I don’t know if this is possible at NEU, but it definitely IS possible at other 0-6 schools like ACP and MCPHS. They often handle pharmacy admissions separately, as you probably know, so it would be worth contacting the SOP at NEU with your question. The way it usually works, when it’s allowed, is that you receive credit for your gen-ed and maybe some non-math/science pre-requisites like econ, public speaking, psych. They generally will require all math/science to be taken within their program.</p>
<p>Again, an email directly to the school is your best source, but you could also try posting on the Northeastern forum!</p>
