Applying as a transfer

If I apply as a transfer to, suppose, Harvard, and I applied as a first year in the past and was rejected, will Harvard still have a copy of my application from when I applied as a first year or will it all be new? Is there any advantage/disadvantage in writing that you did apply to the college before?

Whether or not a college keeps your application and/or supporting materials varies with the school. Some keep, some dump, some only keep if you notify them in the sp of sr year that you plan to apply as a transfer; call H to ask their policy.

Some schools ask if you applied previously, and if so, what was the decision.

Do you think by saying you were rejected previously, that brings up a negative outlook on your application since they didn’t particularly like something in the past and rejected you?

I really doubt it makes any difference but if you really want to apply somewhere, I’d send the entire package again to reduce the chances of error and frankly, to be less high-maintainence.

@Joblue what do you mean by sending the ‘entire package’ again?
