i filled out an fafsa, got my financial aid and started at my university this past fall. i got my loan for fall and spring through sallie mae. after spring semester is over i thought about going in the summer taking like one class. will i just have to pay for that myself?
also for next years loan, will i have to fill out fafsa again to get that money or do anything? do they just send it to my account at my school like last year?

You have to reapply for FAFSA every year.

Ask your school about summer financial aid. At my daughter’s school there is a special form to fill out for summer FA. Federal aid is available for summer classes but if you have already maxed out on your Stafford loans for the school year then you will have no more eligibility for Stafford loans. If you have not maxed out then for federal loans you must be enrolled at least half time (6 hours at my kids schools). If you had the Pell grant then there is now additional Pell money for summer. Only your school can tell you what you may be eligible for.

ok. ive used all my loan money for this year.

i applied for pell grant last year but they said i made too much to get one. i just filed my taxes for this past year and i made way less. can i apply for pell grant to get money for the summer or wait till next year?

The new summer Pell rules are quite complicated even for the FA officers who post here (I am not an FA officer). You would need to talk to your school about it. You do need to file the 2010-2011 FAFSA as soon as you can though. The maximum EFC for the Pell grant (for both the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 school years) is 4617.

edit n/m i see my schools deadline march15
