Is it to late to apply for aid for a summer term? If not, how does one do so?

This is pretty vague - but you would need to contact the school that you want to attend and ask them.

You would need to check with your school for their policies and whether they include summer aid as part of the previous year or the subsequent year.

If a school include summer as part of the previous year then summer would be part of the 2009-2010 school year and be based on the 2009-2010 FAFSA. If you have already submitted the 2009-2010 FAFSA then you do not submit another one, the summer aid will be based on your 2009-2010 information. If you have not submitted a 2009-2010 FAFSA then you would have to submit one (using 2008 tax data). What, if any, aid you would be eligible for will depend on your EFC, the school’s policies, and the aid you have already received during the regular school year. For instance if you already received the maximum Stafford in the 2009-2010 school year then you would not be eligible to receive any more Stafford loans in the summer.

If a school includes summer as part of the next year then summer would be part of the 2010-2011 school year and be based on the 2010-2011 FAFSA. If you have already submitted the 2010 -2011 FAFSA then you do not submit another one, the summer aid will be based on your 2010-2011 information. The summer aid might affect your aid during the regular school year. For instance if you receive a Stafford during the summer then it will reduce the amount of Stafford you are eligible for in the regular 2010-2011 school year.

Although you do not have to complete FAFSA again (if you have already done it), the school may have additional forms of their own you must complete to apply for summer aid. For Federal aid there may also be other rules. For instance for federal loans you must be enrolled at least half time.

It is probably early to apply for summer aid but check with your school.
