Is anybody on here applying for the fall of 2013? I just wanted to talk to some other people about why they like the school!

Hi LizzieP!

I’m not applying for the UofA, but I’m a current freshman here on campus! I can give you a few reasons as to why the YOUofA is awesome!

-The area, for one, is beautiful. Fayetteville is pretty much a college town, geared toward college students. It’s easy to find your way around.
-The advisors are super easy to talk to, and they will do anything and everything to help you make the best decisions regarding your education.
-The people. They are super friendly and approachable, it has a great atmosphere, and you always feel welcomed and invited no matter where you go.
-Of course, the school spirit! In high school I never really was one for going to pep rallies or football games, but UA has some of the best–of both! People care about their school, so naturally it’s geared toward the students.
-Scholarships. Even though they are very competitive, they are also very useful if you get one. Just write really good essays, make a neat and organized academic resume, and you will be fine!

I could keep going and going, but I’m in love with this place. I hope you decide to come. Good luck! Woo Pig!

I applied! It’s the only college I’ve applied to so far and my top choice. Both my parents graduated from there. I’m scared to write my scholarship essay though! :/

nataliec, don’t worry about the essay. Just proof read it after you’re done, give it to an English teacher (or someone you trust to make sound criticism) and have them read over it. Later on, applications for the Alumni scholarships will become available. I highly recommend you apply for them and finish the application. Although highly selective, you can still get one with really good essays!

It’s really not as bad as one may think! Good luck, and I’m here if you need any help!

Thank you! Essays aren’t exactly my strong point, so I’m sort of procrastinating, but I’ll get it done! Do you know if the alumni ones are based on income at all? Or does it help if your parents are alumni?

They are not income-based, but there are a set of alumni scholarships that are designed specifically for children of alumni. (But there are different sets of scholarships; I got the Razorback Roads Scholarship, which is funded from license plate sales.) All you do is write two essays (or I did) and have two trusted adults (not related) fill out a form of you (rating your strengths and weaknesses, etc).

The essays are not bad at all! Trust me, but I understand. I procrastinated until the very last day on mine. (literally sent it in hours before the deadline.)
