@momknowsbest3 Thanks. My D is also a National Hispanic Scholar. I was told that I should call admissions because Baylor also offers full tuition to NHS. I haven’t seen this written anywhere so I am wondering if it is true. I am hoping she will be recruited and receive a nice athletic scholarship to help balance all the tuition & Fees.

I applied with the Baylor Select App on Oct 1. I have sent in everything and they still have not given me an admission decision. Does anyone face a similar problem?

d4nc3d4nnyd4nc3: Did you apply Single Choice Early Action/Decision? That may be part of the delay, if you didn’t. The website says you should hear by January 15 since you applied by November 1. Did you submit letters of recommendation and the essay questions? I hope you hear soon.

My D received an acceptance letter with a merit scholarship 2 weeks ago. The other day we got another letter saying congrats as her $34,000 scholarship has been enhanced to a $34,000 scholarship. ???

She is all IB/AP, NHS, French Honor Society, leadership, extra-currics, volunteers, philanthropy, etc as well as Baptist and Texas resident. Baylor has been courting her for the last 2 years (after she took the PSAT). She was told she only had to fill out the quick app and no essay. Baylor was her safety/safety. Of course grandparents would love for her to attend Baylor as would my sis, Baylor '92. We know Baylor is sometimes stingy with scholarships so a bit surprised she did receive an offer. The following letter that “enhanced” the original offer was a bit of a joke in our house. How does one enhance without changing the original offer? We plan on calling to clarify. Still stumped.

However, D did get accepted into one of her top 3 schools with a very nice offer and plans on going there (with that offer she never finalized her other 2 apps). However, we did tell her if Baylor coughs up a lot more in scholarships she may be taking a sudden visit to Waco ;)

TxNewCollegeMom: If your D is interested, do call your admissions counselor and ask if there was a mistake. When my son was accepted, he was offered a $15,000 scholarship for 4 years but I knew (based on the Scholarship Calculator) that it should have been $60,000. It was fixed on his GoBaylor acceptance page within an hour of my phone call. Give Baylor the benefit of the doubt and make the call.
