I don’t know how to explain this, but with budget cut and whatnot is killing California. I would def want to go to New York. Please, take my place. Do you guys really want to go to California? really? why?

cailliebotte- im from cali and would love to take your place at cornell. honestly, the uc system is just gettin worse and worse. i have so many reasons to transfer to cornell! the budget crisis is not a joke, sometimes i dont get a seat in class let alone the class itself. what major are you at cornell?

Why, Thank you Athletics… Where do you go and what is your major?

I wanna go to Cornell ILR. Right now im double majorin in business economics and political science at ucsb. im on a leave of absence tho and im going to thailand in a week for four months to teach english for burmese refugees. you?

Oh ya! They finally got my college transcript :)

that sucks dude but I meant california in general, not the UC system specially. i’ve kinda fallen in love with southern california and this grey slushy bullsh** is really getting to me and im from chicago so i should be used to it… oh and i’m a bio major concentrating in neurobiology and behavior, more specifically the evolutionary basis of human social behavior. basically stuff about sex :)

@ Athletics, my friend is in ILR right now. She used to go to UCI and transferred; she had the GT contract. She says something about ILR and CALS being affiliated with SUNYs. Anyhow. My major is little, maybe A LOT, different, and unpopular, and if I get in, i must thank my major. haha. I am majoring enology right now in Cal Poly; it’s wine science or wine chemistry.

I didn’t notice this thread at first, so I will post this again here XD
I’m currently in McGill Electrical Engineering

3.75 GPA first semester:
General Chemistry 1 A
Intro to Computing A
Environmental Management A
Vectors, Matrices and Geometry A-
Honours Classical Mechanics B (But it’s an out-of-faculty honours course and is infamous for its punishing difficulty)

Mid-terms in second semester so far:
General Chemistry 2 100% (30/30)
Electric Circuits 90% (4th in class)
Intro to the Eng. Profession 65% (it’s a stupid 1-credit class)
Intermediate Calculus 94%
ODEs and Linear Algebra most probably above 90%

Activities:
High school: Distinction University Research - Bronze Medal National Level.
Dance Society - Lots of community performances
University: Second place Innovative Design Competition

SAT: I didn’t take any.
Essays: Very geeky about my passion for research.
Recommendation: good but from an environmental prof.

I’m applying to transfer to Cornell Electrical Engineering. Do I stand any chance at all???
Thank you for your comments!

hmm, the 65 in english looks a little worrisome. Would you be able to raise that grade if you waited till you had another assignment in that class?

Bleh, I was gonna be really productive and submit all my March 1st apps today, but I woke up with a killer backache and stayed i bed the whole morning =( Anybody know some good excercises to relax your ribcage muscles?

I agree, the 65 in English is not only a red flag, but also a bit of a head-scratcher. Why such a low grade?

@melonbread - I get backaches/spasms a lot from injuries relating to my rowing career in high school and sitting in uncomfortable desk and computer chairs all day (■■■). Try doing yoga’s spinal half-twist (google it) or sitting down, crossing your legs (or stretching them out in front of you), and bending forward, folding yourself in half. Just keep stretching it out.

It’s not English, it’s “intro to engineering profession”. I was going through a tough time this semester so that grade is the affected one. This course is mandatory for engineers in canada only; I don’t think it’s worth anything in the States.

Hi,
Anyone interested in reading my CAS essay?

@ luckyg- that is really random! haha what was your friends profile like from uci?

cailliebotte- haha love the major. you should transfer to sb, sd, usc, or ucla then haha what other than the weather dont you like about cornell?

@athletics I don’t really know her profile but she is really smart. And she said she got into uci as a sophomore so she said her grade didn’t really matter. And also tht ILR being affiliated with sunys it is not too selective as other schools. so I assume she had B average. And yeah…gotta love my major! :)

Hey guys I am REALLY worried about my midterm report. We just took a chem midterm that was insanely hard and I probably got a B+/A-

and my calc grade is a B+ currently (no midterm yet) and writing the essay is an A- and bio is like an A-

Does cornell take your Midterm report incredibly seriously? because this is how i normally do in the middle, and then i usually end up bringing it up to an A through the final and more hw and quizzes, but My grades look atrocious at the moment, but I am sure i can pull off a 3.9+ for final grades. I think it’s not fair to judge someone on grades in the middle and wait for the final result, but i agree that one semester of college grades isnt a strong basis for evaluation. Any one have any thoughts/comments/disagreements/pending lawsuits/dreams/goals/desires based on what i said?

@castiel I’m in a similar position but with one class (though its REALLY bad). Try to wait as long as possible to get your teachers midterm reports (March 15th), and if your grades are still not up to what you feel they will be, email (or maybe call) cornell admissions and explain that to them. See if you can send the grades again later after they’ve gone up.

I like Cornell very much but I dont think a thread filled with so much wide-eyed hope and anticipation is the appropriate place for me to unload my serious criticisms of Cornell.

fair enough haha can you pm me bc im interested in knowing

I think we’re mature enough to handle the criticisms. Most of us have only know about the sugarcoated side, so you will do us a favor by bringing us back to reality. I would also like to know what I’m getting myself into…
