Applying for fall of 2010 Cornell

haha stryke don’t be scared to cal. You paid what, around 70 bucks to apply? Thats your money and by paying it you have a right to know at least the status of your materials. I don’t think it would bug them, but even if it does, its well worth it for your app.

Haha its good that cornell did all that, it means its all good. Personally i would call them asap. i don’t see any harm now that freshman decisions are out and the large volume of applicants thing dissapeared and was replaced with our missing materials.

duynguyen89: don’t worry. I sent all my documents in one folder too, and they did not update all the materials in once. Eventually i still got all doc received.

ok so if we have the message: Your materials have been received. Your application has been forwarded to the admissions staff for review." then they have all of our stuff and we are for sure not missing anything?

some of you guys did receive status updates that state your app is missing materials, so i just want to make sure i don’t need to call or email them to confirm…

hello, I didnot receive the same message as you guys. Mine is: Thank you for using our online self-service application status system. The checklist below indicates materials received by the Undergraduate Admissions Office and does not include materials sent to the college admissions offices or to the financial aid office. After that They mention that my ISTRUCTOR EVALUATION hasnot been received. Three of my professors sent those documents I am lost. Am I the only one missing the instructor evaluation???

They miss my Instructor Evaluation. I have no idea how they miss that. I sent two Instructor Evaluations. What number should I call them guys to make sure they didn’t receive it. Thank you very much guys.

The first time I checked 3 weeks ago they had everything but my midterm report.

Now they’re missing my high school transcript.

I guess I will wait a few days to see what happens, and then call them if nothing changes.

They could possibly still be matching up credentials again.

omg i cant believe they got my major wrong, they put English instead of Economics, thank god i called them and have them fixed it.

haha khooni, i have never hated a place so much in my life and i hate to think about the 3 semesters i wasted there. and i have to return to take classes over the summer because it’s dirt cheap compared to cornell :frowning: :frowning: :(

stryke, call them!!!

does anyone know how the admission process works? is there like a general admissions committee that reviews our applications to make sure everything is there and then forwards it onto the particular college (like Human Ecology)?

Hey ironic, I might be doing that during my summer too. When the grades are transferred over, it’s just stated as credit (without grades indicated)?

And, I’m so excited, goodness knows what for when I haven’t been accepted – that is assuming they will accept me. =(

i know this is totally early, but i wonder when we will get decisions? like late april you think?

ironicallyunsure: do you know when jr. transfer applicants to human ecology are released? will the college contact me if i am missing specific materials they need to review my app?

hyper- each college has its own individual admissions committee. i’ve met all of the ones on the humec committee haha cause i bothered them a million times, etc. 2 are really nice, one is really cold but whatever lol. decisions will be released in the same timeframe as soph applicants, though you could wait a bit longer because you also need to get your courses approved by the head of your department to make sure that you’ll be able to graduate on time and that classes transfer over. and yes, they’ll tell you if youre missing stuff.

boysdontcry - yup, just shows the classes. but grad schools will request transcripts from every school you ever went to, so you don’t “lose” your grades

thanks, you’re super helpful and a great resource!!

you should def call them…your call will be directed to the admissions processing center and probably a lady will answer. I called them last week because I received an email indication that my fee did not go through–I applied for a fee waiver and the lady actually took my application out and noticed that my adviser posted a brief sentence indication i was applying for a waiver and she happily processed my application–and you should have received your app ID. I got mine probly 2-3 days after I submitted my app on March 1st.

just a random question, but do transfer students at Cornell dorm with other transfer students?

based on the housing info i’ve read, transfer students have their own housing.

here is the link to the info i found:

[Housing - Transfer Student Housing](<a href=“Residential Life | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University”>Residential Life | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University)

^ so would it be easy to integrate and socialize with other non-transfer students? it would kinda be intimidating for me =/

oh i feel the same way :)

i will prob live on campus IF (and that’s a big IF) i get in lol and it looks like there are several transfer housing options. west campus looks nice…

Ok, so to sum up what has gone on today and based on everyone’s posts:

-The system was updated, and if your status says that your application has been forwarded for review, then assume that everything has been received as far as materials go.

 • If it says that they are missing something, and you submitted it, contact them. If it says you are missing something because you haven’t submitted it yet- get on that.
 • If you submitted your application on time, but have not received an AppID - CALL THEM (especially if your payment went through).
 • There are very few Stonybrook cheerleaders.

Also, is there anyone’s status who says that their application is “Under Review”, not just “forwarded for review”?

nice summary cheeky! mine only says “forwarded for review”

:(

guess it all can’t be done same day lol
