Applying for the class of 2018 (College starts fall of 2014)

Done with the Penn interview. Didn’t discuss a single useful thing, it was just a 45minute conversation. It went well I think :)

Awesome. What did they ask? Anything that might benefit other prospective interviewees?

I think he was very intimidated by my dashing good looks so he forgot to ask the really tough ‘prove the existence of God’ questions  All we discussed were things only mildly related to my extra curricular activities and grades and he focused more on my beliefs.

My Columbia interviewer was really
Good. She basically put me on a stove and made an essence out of me to take to the Columbia adcoms. She basically took enough info out of me to write a short biography  In short, I was really pleased that the interview made me express the more complex artistic concepts in my head.

Good luck btw!
Columbia decisions in 11 days. 11 days till rejection.

Kinnda jealous of people who got an interview lol… the duke people never offered me one…i sent an additional rec instead!

EarlyAction95 I got a duke interview… It’s scheduled for next week.

ah…i read somewhere that the applicants offered one are chosen at random plus they dont have alumni everywhere…lucky u!
anyhoo, my additional peer rec was perfect  and interviews dont have a major role in the admissions process for duke so im not really worried…but it would have been fun to talk to someone who went there! :D

not to mention that i became all yellow due to the hepatitis during the time ED interviews were taking place…soo its all for the best haha wouldnt have been able to make it to one to begin with!

EarlyAction95 Oh no need to worry. Keeping it real here. Just relax, do your part, and wait till decision time.

Death has officially crept into this thread. May it rest in peace. goes to get resuscitator

Haha I think my previous reply was more of a rant for myself and should be assumed as that more than anything else. :)

As for relaxing, c’mon, you out of all should know that calm is the last thing any applicant is this close to decision day :p

Did anyone know that Stanford only gives CSS PROFILE fee waiver codes to “applicants from Africa”

And furthermore they don’t have any free alternative to the CSS PROFILE either. that’s just wrong on so many levels… Especially since a majority of universities (at least the 10 to which i plan on applying RD) either give CSS PROFILE fee waiver codes, or accept the a free, alternative financial aid app…

I’m an applicant from Africa. Sort of. Lol

haha…they didn’t say “African” they said “from Africa” so I’m guessing that you are eligible!!

What i don’t understand is,how is a “financially distressed” person in Africa any different than one in the rest of the world? This “policy” is absolutely absurd!

Congratulations to everyone on their interviews and goodluck.
Since this thread has high participation, I am hoping you can advise me on an issue.
there is a lack of information on financial aid. Just two questions, how many of you actually applied for aid and are being considered. Secondly, does applying decrease my chances of admission significantly. I shall be extremely grateful for your replies, as my username suggests, lack of sleep is common these days. Thanks

@earlyaction
There IS a fee waiver code?? How do you get and use one?

@concernedLAD2 - applying for aid does decrease your chances significantly at some universities. But it really depends from university to university… some need aware unis are in practice “need aware” yet they do accept plenty of international students with financial aid.

@Heisenberg95 - you have to email the financial aid department and ask them… there’s only a handful that give it tho…most have a free financial aid app…

That awkward moment when your supplement is actually better than your common app :P

Applied to UPenn, WUSTL, Richmond, Purdue and St. Johns. Just going to apply to one more back up and about 6 other tough or medium level universities.

@Altolime lol I’m down to 5 supplements left. 15 done.

PEOPLE! Y U DEAD. Look at last years thread. JUST LOOK AT IT!
