Applying for transfer opinions please

Alright i need some opinions on whether or not I am being realistic with my school choices.

I am applying to 3 schools
Temple- if i go to temple My major will be International Business Admin.
NYU College of Arts and Sciences- Pre-Law with a pre-business minor or i might just do economics
Fordham- International Business
Rutgers- International business or Pre-law

The school that I am currently going to is East Stroudsburg University. I chose it for a number of reasons #1 being i go there free because my dad teaches there. Also my high school GPA was kinda of poor so most schools didn't think i would do well. My major is Business Management with minor in a pre-law tract
first semester my GPA was a 3.0 i know its bad ive heard. This semester though my gpa is 3.8(tentative)

my classes last semester
PCS AND THEIR USES 3.0 B
PRIN MACROECONOMICS 3.0 B
PRIN OF MANAGEMENT 3.0 C
SPANISH I 3.0 B
20C WRLD-SNCE 1914 3.0 A

this semester am taking

BUSINESS LAW I A
WORLD CIV TO 1300 A
PRIN MICROECONOMICS A
BASIC ISSUES POLIT A
HISTORICAL GEOG US Withdraw
PRIN POLITICAL SCI B
I am also adding an expository writing class because NYU requires it

High school i don't even want to discuss....
I had a 2.0-2.5gpa um my SAT's were 1650 the first time second time i got 1750
I was in mock trail 10th grade
I did track for 3years and got a varsity letter
I did football for 3years actually two i broke my wrist the first time I also got a varsity letter

College one club SIFE students in free enterprise its like a business club

My dad went to NYU CAS and got his degree in Economics on a full scholarship as an International student from Senegal back in the day.WAYY back in the day.

My ethnicity-> I am African American Male<-(will this help me out at NYU because i heard that they are pretty low on guys and minorities) i speak several languages.
I wont need financial aid because my moms employer is going to pay(the UN)

I also got a killer, right on the dot recommendation from my Economics/Business law professor. Also my essays are coming out very nicely can i get some input?
Thanks in advance

No opinions? id really like some input even if you don't have much experience. Also forgot to mention that I've had a job since November as a sales associate at GUESS?.

Your in at Temple and RU

Assuming you do indeed get a 3.8 GPA for this semester, you will have a 3.4 cumulative. Judging by your H.S stats and a 3.4, I'd say your chances at NYU are not that great.

So you think my chances aren't that good at NYU despite the legacy factor..idk i might still apply

also between Rutgers and Temple, Ru has a better academic rep correct?

NYU says that they consider alumni relations. RU does have a better academic reputation.

abdul.kane . i read your question on NYU transfer forum. Can you just tell me that how can you on "January 31st" know that you are going to have a 4.0 in all courses that are supposed to end on May 16th.

Because first off am sending my midterm grades. Secondly I'm fairly confident that I could get a 4.0

In at Temple and Rutgers, probable reject at Fordham if apply now but accept if apply after the Spring semester is over. Reject at NYU CAS in both cases.

Sending in Midterm grades will not make your official grades an "A". What if you founder in the other half of the semester? It is like a hypothesis that cannot be proven until they really see your official grades. Hence, you cannot be sure. What you should say is that "I embody the potential required for realizing a 4.0 and I will exert myself to attain it".

Am sorry what? I asked if i could send my mid-term grades in and they said yes and that the consider the mid-terms in the process...I dont understand what your talking about?

Anyways so pretty much everyone is saying i have no chance for NYU? but i guess i should apply anyways it cant hurt plus its free...So pretty much Temple or Rutgers. I would consider Fordham i pretty much finished the app but it cost about the same as NYU tuition and why would i pay that much money if am not getting an NYU education? but then again is Fordham worth it? dont get me wrong i did research but is does it haver a stronger program that both Rutger ands Temple?

how do you know ur grades for this semester......

m. kenien was simply saying its hard to say you'll get a "3.8" the next semester considering you earned a 3.0 the first semester in arguably easier, more intro-level classes, and hes right about that. keep in mind the first couplw weeks are meant to be easy, to ease you back into school from break.

Fordham is a great school in new york....the professors/curriculum is not the greatest, but thats not what makes it great. The contacts/internships are amazing I hear. also, the campus is pretty odd. its located in a run-down section of the bronx, and its gated off from the outside world, like a military compound or something. Its probably the third best Jesuit college behind Gtown and BC, academically speaking. The business program, specifically finance, is pretty strong. i cant decide if its worth it, you must.

hope that helps

Much obliged alipes07. I am glad to know that there are youngsters in this country who can comprehend educated statements. My eyes behold that mr. kane's intellect is not yet au fait with the common parlance of the land of The Union Jack. Perhaps, he needs to put his sagacity to use and opt for courses that will supplement his proficiency in the language of The Albion as he pursue his scholastics henceforward.

Abdul.kane: my point was to rephrase your wording.

First off for you to assume that I have little or no understanding of the English language simply because I didn’t understand your question is pretty presumptuous on your part. The grades that I posted are my current grades, the 4.0 part is my goal and I will not settle for anything less. Second what is the point of posting if you’re just going to troll the thread? You didn’t answer any of my questions you just made an attempt to put me down.

@ Alipes07 thanks for the input. It’s good to hear that Fordham has great networking possibilities because that’s what I’m looking for in a potential school.

I also need one of my essays read any volunteers? I personally think its really good it still needs to flow nicer though.

if you are into networking take a look at northeastern

what I enunciated was sheer commonsensical.

You must go ahead with your plans at any rate.

kenien since you seem to be good with the English language would you mind going over my essay?

abdul.kane . I would have loved to but altruistically speaking - you shouldn't trust me. Please donot share your essay with any alien person.

This is my advise. Not everyone in this world is guileless. I won't be abashed to apprise you the fact that I might end up capitalizing on your ideas rather than furnishing you an adequate advise or any ammendments required in your essay.

By the way, I am French and have been in U.S. since 2004 only.
