I got the job listings yesterday and there’s quite a few jobs that I’d like to apply to. Are there limits on the number of jobs you can apply? Is there a minimum number of jobs that I should apply to in order to be assured of getting one? Please provide some advice regarding how to start and go about the process. I checked the tips from the Student Employment Office, but advice from people who have gone through it would be more helpful.
Thanks!

I would imagine you could just decline the ones you decide you don’t want.

I thought those were due already? I got preplaced in a job already. Its in the mail room =/, hopefully its fun, I like organizing stuff… Didn’t get any lab assistant positions argg…

Which mail room are you working in?

For work study jobs, apply to whatever sounds good to you then narrow down according to what is available to you!

stickman - I think the advisor said something about working in the dean’s office.

Do they just pick one person for each job? I’ve applied to quite a few jobs today, most being lab ones, but I have a feeling that if they only pick one student, they’re not going to pick a measly freshman with little to no experience. :/

Yea, I have been told that its not easy getting a job in the labs as a freshman. When I applied, I had experience at a research lab in NJ and had done some researching of my own and didn’t get it. If you can apply to other jobs that would be easy for you…

Did you send them a resume when you applied? Is it necessary at all?

I am a freshman and I got a job in the lab of School of Law.
