Applying from different background

Hi everyone!

I have a question related to application to MIT as an international student.
On the international admissions informational page, it is said that "students who have already enrolled at another university - either in America or abroad - must apply to MIT as a transfer student".
On the transfer admission page, it is said "we cannot accept applications from students who at the time of entry to MIT will have finished less than one year or more than two and a half years of college".
What if I have already finished more than 2.5 years of university with completely different background (law) from one I would like to study (physics)? Is it still (technically) possible to apply to MIT as an undergraduate?
Thank you.

No, it is not.
