Applying Late to St. George's

I've decided to apply late to St. George's, and I was wondering how good my chances are. I'm almost done with the short answers/essay right now, and I should have the app. sent in by the middle of April. I'm taking a tour at the end of April, and I'm trying to schedule an interview now. I know that St. G's is pretty selective, and I'm just worried because I don't have outstanding ECs or anything. I have pretty much all As throughout middle school and 9th grade(currently in 9th), with about 3 or 4 B+s throughout the 3 and a half yrs. This year I did one season of crew, one of sailing. I'm in a few clubs(math team, ambassadors, etc.), I do math help during my study, just started to play the guitar, just started to volunteer at a hospital. My essays are alright, but writing is not my strong point so I'm slightly worried about that. I also mentioned the 3 awards I got in MS (math, english, president's award), and a partial scholarship for the school i attend now(it's private--award was for academics).

Obviously, there are no guarantees with late admissions, but I would really love to go. I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance.

Any comments would be great.
Thanks. (I'm not sure if chances threads are a regular occurence on this thread, so I'm sorry if they aren't.)

How were your SSAT scores? Do you need any financial aid? Have they given any indication if they have room for sophomores for next year?

Good luck. SGS is a great school on a beautiful campus, with very friendly kids.

I got 90% percentile on my SSATs(I only found out I was taking them the day before. I don't need financial need. Also, I'm possibly just applying as a day student.

You best bet would be to contact St. George's directly and see if they anticipate any opening for a day student who will be a sophomore. Many schools limit the number of day students and it is even harder to get than as a boarding student. Since you are a late applicant, they also have kids on the waitlist as well as those to whom an offer has already been given.

Since you don't need FA, that will help quite a bit.

I agree, normally it is more difficult to get accepted as a day student - you never know though :) Your stats are terrific and best of luck to you!

my son applied to a school which was a boarding/day school.. admissions actually told him his chances were better as a boarder

i was accepted there, and my grades are all mostly b+ - a+. It is a great school and good luck :) People do generally have a better chance as a boarder though.
