congratulations to everyone who got thick letters from their top choice schools.
unfortunatly i did not. i applied to st georges and hotchkiss and hotchkiss was really my #1. i got the letter today and was rejected. for some reason i didnt even cry, probably cause i prepared myself for the situation of acceptance and rejection prior to letters being mailed. i hopefully will get into st georges; ill probably get the letter on monday. anyone have any advice to help me deal?

It's okay. St. George's as a good school as well. I'm sure you'd do well at either school. :)

Watch Jerry Springer. Seeing how messed up those people's lives are helps to develop appreciation for the relative stability of your own life. :)

haha thanks. i know ill turn into a wreck if i dont get into st georges. but no worries.

come join us at the thread, "boarding school results" !!

any more tips from anyone? im really feeling sad now that its sinking in my dream school is out of the question. you think i have a chance of being accepted at st georges? its my only hope

What are your stats?

straight As through 7th grade, in 8th grade 5 A's 2 B's (chorus and gym) and 56% percentile overall 1st time SSAT, 66% second time. good recommendations and essays, and some connections. my mom went to trinity college and my dad went to duke yale and northwestern. caucasian from ct. dont need financial aid.

Well the average percentile on the SSAT at St. George's is 85%, much higher than your's. How'd your interview go? Do you have any ECs? Competitions? Awards?

i play competitive travel soccer and i sail around the country. my interview went great and i volunteer often.

Ohh, that's quite impressive. :) Maybe they'll accept you for that. :)

hopefully.

hey i dont get it ...why would you want to go to boarding school so badly? my cousin going so im kinda interested but dont have many reasons, any1 wanna clearify it for me?

I weighed the boarding/day student prior to submitting my applications. With the rigorous schedules these prep schools keep, it's extremely difficult to experience all the school can offer as a day student. As I tried to convince my mother of my choice to board, I explained that once the academic day is over, most of these schools required participation in an EC or sport. That event wouldn't be over until around 5:30. What was she going to do - drive me 45 minutes home just for me to study and go back the next day? At least staying on campus, you can shower, eat in the dining hall, go to a mandatory study hall where a library is at your disposal, teachers & students are there to help when you get stuck, and who knows? maybe even a little time to hit the fantastic gym, student center to hang out, etc. It just seems to be a less stressful situation to accomplish everything especially for a student that has difficulty remaining motivated throughout the entire school year. This is just my own opinion and I'm sure there are many reasons people pick boarding over day, and vice versa. Good luck!

prepchick91, did you hear from St. george's yet?

thanx chopper1203 ur really nice......

just thought I would share my reasons for choosing boarding, I'm sure others have their own. Just like I know many students prefer being a day students. I just know that with my parents' work schedule, a day student wouldn't allow me the time I need to get my work done and actually enjoy the experience. Good luck to you in whatever you decide!

well i got waitlisted. im crossing my fingers though
