as long as you COMPLETE your application, this includes the on line app, official transcript, sat/act scores and pay the app fee you will be considered for the first deadline. then you can supply additional information i.e. new sat scores when they come in and they will be considered, especially if you get the results back in early october. i don't know when the first admission notification date is, but last year is was november 28th.

make sure whenver you send in parts or additions to your application profile that you check on line (application status) and make sure those items have been reflected on line. if you think they should have something on file and it is not showing up on line, don't wait to call the admissions department. waiting until the end can cause problems. be diligent and try to be organized.

JerseyShoreMom. welcome to the board and good luck with the process. our s just started summer c. we are from the ny metro area and let me know if you have any questions for an oos parent.

When does summer c start? In New Jersey, senior year is over at the end of June, usually after the start of summer sessions.

This year Summer C starts Monday, June 30.

If all goes well, that would give D a week between graduating high school and starting at FSU. Is is "easier" to get into FSU for summer session rather than fall?

summer c usually begins the last monday in june. our son graduated 6-18 and we ledt for tally one week later.

there is some debate over whether applying summer c makes your admissions chances better ( i am in the camp that thinks it does improve your chances), but more importantly, i now fully see the advantage of starting summer c from the perspective of becoming familiar with the campus community before the busy fall term. for an oostater, it also gives you an opportunity to meet new friends. our s didn't know anyone going to fsu and now after orientation and a few days on campus he is off and running with a really nice group of kids.

getting a few courses under your belt also helps.

I agree with these posts re: summer application, etc. My son, a senior, will also do the same. And we HAVE been told by admissions and the program director in the particular field that my son has chosen, that for an oos student, it is the best way to go. They are a bit more flexible with the summer apps.

We've also been told to apply asap when the app goes onlline. Also, to continuously follow-up & stay on top of everything that has been sent in. Even the ACT/SAT scores. And it's faster to have the scores sent directly to FSU from ACT rather than the high school send them.

My son's current transcript won't be ready until Sept. 15 but the admissions rep said that would still be ok - - if we have at least gotten the application in and everything else. She also said to be aware of the final deadline for the first wave of applications.

Another thing to considerer is the strength of your senior year schedule. when we met with an admissions rep during our visit to tally last august, he told us that strength of senior year schedule is important and is factored in to the process. I would say a minimum of 2 ap courses is good.

don't overdue the schedule, because as we saw this year, some students who let down their studies after getting accepted had their admissions rescinded.
