Applying to any UC school

I want to apply to all UC schools, but would I have to apply out - of - state even if I lived in the state not up to a year?

I lived in California most of my life, until my parents recently decided to move to another state for my senior year. Im worried a bit that ill have to apply as out - of - state.

Unfortunately, if your parents moved out of state with the intent not to return, and are not paying California State Tax, you will be deemed out of state. “Residence” is determined as your first day of school, but if under 24, it is based on your parents’ residence unless you can establish financial independance for 2 years preceding your first day and you were in California for that time.

Did they pay California taxes and do you have proof of this? Did they move out of state with the intent to reside there permanently?
