My schools are all generally in the same ballpark for how good they are in business (UIUC honors program, Michigan, Northwestern, Usc, berkeley, ucla) I haven't got into all of them yet but we'v an assume I got into the majority of them.

I know that where you go to school is usually where you get your first job or have ur career. For a business major (accounting, finance, economics) where do you think is better: California (LA for example) or Chicago?

I know it's some personal preference but I want to get some opinions on this. If there is absolutely no difference then that's another thing u can say but I'm curious

Thanks

UCLA does not have a true undergraduate business major (it has something called “business economics”).

Some of the schools (e.g. Berkeley) do not directly admit frosh to the business major, but require students to apply to the business major after completing the prerequisite courses; this may be a competitive admission process.

What cost constraints and state of residency do you have? Out of state public schools can be expensive without much (if any) financial aid.

I think Chicago gives you more opportunities then LA for Finance/ Economic related fields.
Northwestern, UCI and UIUC are great schools and have good Internship Programs in Chicago Downtown.

For accounting, UIUC. The others for finance, BUT you can get into finance with accounting, but not so much the other way around. Otherwise, if you want to work in California and can afford it, go to school in California.

As far as the financial services industry goes, Chicago for sure (Big 4 firms, the Mercentile Exchange, etc.). That being said, schools with big alumni networks in the business world (UMich and USC come to mind) can also help significantly with landing a job/internship.
