applying to uc with different majors

Is it a bad idea to apply to different UCs with a different major? My major is chemistry. However, I got a C in one of my Chemistry classes during my first semester in college. Irvine is the only college that requires a grade of B or higher for chemistry classes. I was thinking of applying for environmental science with just irvine just to be eligible. would that negatively affect my application? I would think that students should have one major because it reflects their interest. Also, the personal statement requires you write about your experience with your major and it wouldnt make sense to talk about two different majors.
Has anyone applied with 2 different majors? and if you have, how did you write your personal statement?

It would not affect your chances of admission.

Ok thanks. but that would mean I’d have to write 2 different personal statements about my major?

No, you only get to submit one. there are two prompts, one which involves talking about your major. You can talk about both of them or in a more general sense if you want.

Just talk about your love of science. Try to make it tie in all together if you can. Split the difference almost and do what you can.
