Applying to UCLA, USC, UCSB, Stanford, Pepperdine, FIU, NYU

Dear readers, I have a very important question about applying to the US. I’ve read all pages about the things I need for US uni, however I’m still really worried about “what if?”. So I wanted to ask someone who is experienced with US admissions/US student what are my chances of getting in. I want to study Business and I want to do real estate development in the future as my profession. I’ll be 17 this year, I’m from Poland and I started studying in the UK in Septmeber 2014 therefore I don’t have my GCSEs.

Here’s the most important info about me:

  • I’m doing 3 AS levels and I’m predicted A in Economics, A in Maths and a B/C in History.
  • I’m currently doing DofE Gold Award
  • I signed up for EPQ (I’m researching about how the construction of the houses in the UK changed through last 100 years)
  • I’ll take 2 SAT Subject tests (World History, Maths Level 2)
  • I’m studying for SAT and ACT, my first try is in June and I aim for a minimum 2000 SAT and 31 ACT (only predictions)
  • I’m studying IELTS and so far all my scores (practice) were between 9 and 7 (lowest was 7 in writing)
  • I do volunteering in a local kindergarten
  • I’m in schools basketball team
  • I do gym for over a year so I’m well built (shows I care about myself, not just study 24/7)
  • I have an architecture blog and a fashion blog
  • I own a real estate company (set it up by myself) that buys foreclosure properties, renovates them and sells afterwards (so far I’ve earned enough to pay for one year at the university)
  • back in Poland in my final year I won an English olympiad therefore I could enter any secondary school I wanted to and I was awarded with an outstanding grades diploma
  • I have a 2 week work experience in a real estate company (developing hotels and business buildings)
  • attended business meetings for a week in my dad’s friends real estate development company

I’m planning on visiting these universities during this summertime (except for FIU as it’ll be too much travelling) But the university I dream most about is UCLA, I want to become a Bruin since I was 10…

Overall I’m really in love with the US, I’ve been there 11 times already (once in California, 9 times in Florida and once in Washington DC) and that’s definitely the place where I want to live. However even though I have my strong points I have some weaknesses (3 AS subjects not 4 and predicted C/B in history (I was doing chemistry before but I found it too difficult for me so I dropped it)). So please be honest and I’ll really appreciate all opinions and tips on my chances of getting in and what to improve. Thanks!

Admissions for international students are really unpredictable so best luck, your qualifications seem very good. What does a 10 yo know about picking colleges? That is really the silliest reason students give. I hope you are not saying you only have one year of school funds available because UCLA will cost 55k per year. I wonder if you have looked at Cornell School of Hotel Administration. It may not seem obvious but it is basically a business degree and the student even go into business in finance and such, but they have courses on RE, law, property management too.
