I heard that if I applied to a small number of campuses, say--3, I would have a better chance of getting into those schools than if I applied to all the campuses. I hope you guys understand what I'm asking. I'm not sure if I should limit myself to a few UCs that I really want to go to, or just apply to all of them and see where I get in. Would the results of my acceptance be different?

They don't compare or discuss applications. So the number of campuses you apply to has absolutely no effect on your chances.

Oh ok, thanks. Sorry I am thinking about this application stuff so much I am confuseing myself. I guess I just think the whole process of how they choose which campuses you are accepted to is really random. In that case I think I'll just apply to almost all of the campuses and see which ones I get into. Again sorry for the bogus q!

Actually think about it, if you applied to more, (in terms of probabilities) you would have a better chance of getting into more schools than if you applied to 1-2 :)

I know thats what I always thought... but... say I am a spectacular applicant and I apply to all campuses, should't i expect to be admitted to all of them?

i just dont get how some get accpted to santa crus but nor riverside, santa barbara but not davis... i duno sorry, sorry!

The admissions process is super random and there are so many things that factor into the process (essays, grades, scores, etc) so you never know. Also, i believe each uc has a different admissions process too, each is different in terms of selectivity/applicant pool, etc..
:)

Ohh. I don't know why I thought the adcoms actually choose which campus you would go to. Makes sense that each UC has a different process. It's my parents fault--they grill me too much and if I'm not completely sure about something they get angry and I get all confused! =p

You do get admitted to all of the UC campuses if you are a strongly candidate. I know someone who did. Do Adcoms get together? largely no. They prolly do in order to assign the ELC candidates who were not admitted.
