Applying to UCSD

I really want to apply to UCSD and major in computer science. What are my chances?

SAT is a bit low especially for CS. SAT2 scores look solid. Although UCSD does not consider rank, the majority of admitted students are in the top 10% of their class. What is your GPA?
I believe UCSD will be a tough admit. Bump up your test scores and do something CS related this summer to help your chances.

Well my superscored sat is 2060 but I’ve heard that uc schools do not superscore.
My gpa is around 3.8~4
Thanks for your advice!

The UC’s do not superstore.
Your SAT and rank will not help.
Can you afford UCSD at $55K per year? No financial aid is available at the California public schools.

I have plans for the tuition issue but if sat scores and rank do not help what’s their criteria for applicants?

I think @“aunt bea” is saying SAT is slightly low to be a competitive applicant.
It is worth an application, but do not just focus on UCSD. There are many other schools that less expensive and not nearly as difficult of an admit for CS. Do some research and come up with a reasonable list based on your stats. Take a look at San Jose state, excellent CS program and in the heart of Silicon Valley. Again not an easy admit but you will have a better chance especially if you retake the SAT.

Agree^^^^. That’s exactly what I meant.
That major of CS, is extremely competitive for instate students. So, as an OOS, with that score and rank you’ll be swimming against the tide.

As for the costs, please don’t rely on huge loans; it is not worth it, and you will have a hard time getting out of debt.

Thanks @“aunt bea” and @Gumbymom !! I’ll take your advices and reconsider my target
