This is my first post on the board but I'm so glad I found it because it seems like you guys know what you are talking about. I'm attending Orange Coast College this fall as a freshman. In high school I didn't take any AP classes so I'm going into OCC with no college credits.

My question is if I apply to USC for next fall, but while I'm in the process of applying I'm still taking classes necessary for the 30 credits for them to look at only my college record will they look at my high school record?

I understand that sounds confusing so let me try to give an example...

Let's say they receive my transcripts in late January and I have 18 credits complete, but on my transcripts it says I'm currently taking 12 more credits to be complete by the end of spring. Will they only look at my college records or since I have not officially completed 30 credits at the time they recieve my transcript will they then also take into consideration my high school records?

Thanks for the time guys! Sorry if it is a little confusing

Thanks a lot FightOn. The reason I ask is because I was wondering how would they judge me as a college student with such few credits on the college level, but thanks soo much because that is such a relief since my high school career wasn't up to USC standards.

So just to make sure, they won't consider my high school records at all as long as I'm attempting to get to 30 credits before I attend USC?

in my opinion, USC doesn't consider your high school records or SAT very much if u r a transfer (hv completed at least 30 credits before u attend USC)
but USC will send you a spring grade request before they give you the decision

like me, i had finished 21 credits before I applied, and i had 18 more to be completed by the end of spring. They sent me a spring grade request. And i sent in my grades, I got accepted.

I was in the same exact position as you. I didn't do so hot in high school, and I wanted to transfer out in 1 year. I thought it would be troubling as I would only have one semester done in college, so I thought they would be forced to look at my high school transcripts.

But anyway, bottom line, I'm fairly sure they don't look at your high school records too much, and usually, if you do well your 1st semester, they will request your 2nd semester grades and make their decisions then. So don't sweat it, and just focus on doing well in school for now. It is NOT 30 credits at the time you submit your application

Hey Matt, i go to OCC too! small world. anyway i went to a transfer session and they said that as long has you have the 30 credit, they will focus mainly on your college transcript. this might be OT but if you need to fulfill the second catagory take anthropolgy 100 at Occ its fun and not too hard.

hi you guys,
this is my first time posting and I had a couple of questions. I am currently a freshman right now at PCC and I have a pretty high GPA with 45 units. BUT the only problem is that I took some community college classes in my sophmore year in high school and I got a couple of D's. USC requires an applicant to submit all of their grades ever earned in college when they apply. So what can I do right now?

I am wondering if I can apply for UCSB when I only have 45 units

What do you do? You do exactly as they say and submit all of your grades, including the ones you took your sophomore year in high school. All UCs require 60 units to transfer. Hope that helped.

I too go to OCC and am majoring in nursing. This fall though, I plan on transfering to St. Joseph's College of Nursing. To answer your question, most colleges do ask for high school transcripts, but don't focus much on your sat or act scores if you're a transfer student. When you send them your transcipt from the college you're attending with 18 completed credits and are currently doing 12 credits, they will most likely ask you to send them a transcript of how you're doing that semster. With St. Joe's they told me that the classes I am currently doing is what's going to determine if i'm accepted or not.
