i have a question. if someone applies to the yale school of music only and they get in? is it considered presitigious as in o i made yale!? and is it important to have good academics and sat scores and ECs to get in the school? like if they person had a 1900 sat and applied to yale school of music, would they have a shot?

you would have no shot

its a graduate school only

actually uh for the undergraduate music program in yale. can someone apply for that with soley music? or do they need other stuff too? like maybe ECs, good sat scores, etc? or if they're going for music, is lets say a 1900 on sat good for getting into yale for music?

I'm fairly certain.

bump.........

To be a music major as an undergraduate at Yale, one doesn't apply to the "music school." All the undergraduate majors go through Yale College, and thus it doesn't really make a difference what you apply as (or if you apply undecided)

o so ECs sats and all that jazz DOES matter huh?

yes, it does. the school of music is a graduate school (like all the schools of yale besides yale college). therefore, to do music for undergrad at yale, you apply to yalle college, like everyone else. meaning the grades, sat scores, ec's, etc all count just as much regardless of your intended major. sorry to burst your bubble, but you'd be competing against everyone else.

that said, if you are a preternatural musician, that's sort of a hook. You can send them recordings and the adcom will have it reviewed by music faculty. In other words, if you are a virtuoso, then you don't need other EC's. If you are just "good", then you need EC's.
