I am currently awaiting a decision from uga (this month).
I was wondering… how much different does yyour major effect your chances of getting in?
Could a 3.2 get rejected if they apply under Business, but a 2.8 getting into the argicultural school.
SAT is 1270… also african-american… and applying for summer admissions.
I am just curious.

Most schools will tell you it doesn't matter as long as you're applying under the same college (that is, Letters & Sciences versus Engineering).

It will matter even beyond this, however: if they have what are called "impacted majors" even within these schools, there will be a higher standard. A major is impacted when a disproportionately large number of students is applying for it.

This is a theory, but I belive it matters even beyond that: if you're applying to a science major and they see that you haven't done so well in the science classes you've taken so far (or your ECs don't match up, for example), they'll be less inclined to consider you.

The best bet is, if you really are unsure, to apply Undecided.

anyone else know spec. ab UGA?

i wouldn't recommend applying undecided, from what i've heard that's the hardest major to get into

I thought a majority of college bound students apply for undecided.

yeah..that's why it's the hardest..better to check one that seems interesting and just change it in college if you want to

So does anyone know about agri-school?
