Appointee kit

Woohoo, just got home and found the packet on the table!!!

Hmmm already got my PO Box number, impressive... ;)

What is your PO Box?

3668... :)

I got mine today too!! I'm super excited now! More paper work though... it never ends!

Gah did I seriously just fall for that?!?!

First time I go to open my PO Box I am gonna have a buddy do it for me, either that or open it from the side... ;)

(PS. I was not giving any ideas either in case it hadnt crossed your mind)

The son of a postmaster says: Tampering with the mail or a mailbox or PO box is a federal offense and a Bad Idea.

Can you tell by the P.O. box which squadron you will be in?

My fault Toledo, I shouldve known that after I saw a mail box get smashed in my neighborhood when I was younger, ehhh the police showed up and I had no idea why... of course I was like 7 or 8? ;)

Good question AZCadet, I hadnt really thought of that, any thoughts?

No, it has no bearing on your future squadron. It's alphabetical.

Ok so I finally got to go through my packet, and I noticed a measurement form in the back by immunizations, a deadline of March 1st? It says after that to turn it in asap but I would imagine itd be better to do it sooner than later?

Postmaster says: I'm sure all those nice cadets at The Academy would not even consider doing anything wrong, let alone illegal, involving a mailbox. There’s an awful lot of very good and legal things that can be sent to a mailbox. For instance, cookies and candies are a very good thing. Didn’t I hear that new cadet’s just love getting care packages during BCT? fofl

No one tampers with mailboxes. They are all in a mailroom and manned by personnel anyway.

But, you are right, all kinds of goodies can be sent to mailboxes - especially surprise mail. ;)

BUT, Basic Cadets can only receive letters during BCT - no packages of any kind. Packages of brownies, cookies, a few favorite things, can be recieved upon completion of BCT. If the packages arrive early, they are held in the mailroom and are not distributed.

Care packages during BCT? Nope, sorry, not even us future 3-digs will be able to pull that off, at least not openly... ;)

Maybe after BCT though...

Just a side note, but there's more than 6 C/Col. There's also a couple of other positions that have the rank. Not sure how many though.

There are only six C/Col positions at any one time. There are, however, more than six who hold the rank due to the policy of "once a Colonel always a Colonel." One firstie in my squad, for example, was the Space Group Commander last summer, and he still wears Col (and has his own room!).

daughter recieved her package on the 22nd of feb
exactly one year to the day of getting her summer seminar acceptance letter!

Wow that's my old PO Box (3668), guess I won't be getting that one this time around.

oh, does that mean that it changes every year then?

lol af16, i saw that one coming...

For those of you who have recieved your appointee kit-when were you first given your offer of appointment? I got mine in the middle of December and I was just curious to see if the appointee kits went out in any kind of flow. Thanks! The anticipation is killing me.

yeah same...received appointment in December and have yet to get my packet

My S, appt was dated 2 Nov. I dont know if they do it by appt dates or maybe alphabetically. We are "C", we live in Virginia, and it cant be by acceptance date cause he only decided late January. So for us it came back pretty quick. Hang in there.
