Appointee kit

gah af16 that was the dumbest thing you've ever done ;) i had that measurement sheet too, it's for uniforms.. i had to go to a tux store today anyways so i got them to do it, they only have to do a few separate measurements so it's all good.

i got my appt in december and got my kit monday.. it'll be there soon :)

I must have missed that one, over my head, and its a bit early you guys to be picking on the one who "speaketh without using thy headeth"... ;)

But yea HNeedle, I stopped and got the sheet filled out today too, except boot size of course will that really matter if I am buying them early anyway at orientation? And a March 1st deadline? Possible May 1st and a typo (as they seem to be notorious for "INclosed")?

Boot size shouldn't matter - you'll be fitted here.

missmuff - to answer your question...........

no, you will not get a new P.O.Box every year. If you do not leave, say for a medical turnback, your box number stays the same all four years.

haha af16.. i found a few typos in that packet, most notably the one referring to i-day as june 28 when it is JUNE 26... but mistakes happen! now its on to getting a folder ready for i-day w/ all necessary stuff

Not sure how they do it. Son received his appointment Nov 5th. Last name is exact middle of the alphabet. Live in the Rocky Mountains. So; based on all that, there is no rational reason. I'm sure he wasn't the first one in the country to receive the packet. He was the first in this thread, but there doesn't appear to be a reason why.

So i noticed in the packet that the Academy is switching to the ABU... is there any hope that we won't need to polish our boots and iron our uniforms constantly? Any word on the situation in general from those of you at the Zoo...

2012 is getting 1 pair of ABU's...that means you'll still have 2 pairs of BDU's to take care of. And in Basic, you will almost certainly be wearing the BDU's all of the time. And you still have to learn how to polish and iron for the Blues any way (sorry, no way out of it). ;)

Damn, i knew it was too good to be true... so generally things just become more confusing since there will be yet another uniform? (and yeah i figured about the Blues, but that still would have been easier than the BDUs)

I just talked to my admissions counselor at the Academy, Sandi Long. Apparently she was on vacation the week that everyone else's appointee packets were sent out. She said that I would be receiving mine next week some time. So if you have her as your admissions counselor, thats probably why you haven't received it yet.

Refreshed thread for those interested

Again,for those interested
