come prepared for ANYTHING realted to weather.

bring clothes to wear if its 80* or if its snowing. weather here changes in a moments notice. this morning i was comfortable in short sleeves. Then noon meal hit, and the sun was shining as it began to snow. an hour later, it looks like a blizzard and there’s a lightning warning. So don’t think “oh, its April, it’ll be warm”, cause then you may freeze yourself to death. it happened last year too, with 60s one day and snow the next, so be ready.

Very true! I visited last October. It was short sleeves all day, and halfway through the football game (Beating UNLV) the temperature dropped something like 20 degrees in 20 minutes. Stunning. And freezing.

fencermother- would you be referencing the ice of this winter in PA? I know central PA got shut down about three times from ice this winter which was miserable lol

Shoot; I'm in Wyoming. We can get away with wearing shorts just about any day of the year.

Now; going outside is a totally different subject. We have 3 seasons here. Winter; Nov-May; Spring; 1June-15June; Construction; 16 june - October.

Colorado is a little better. They have 4 seasons. Figuring out when they are is the hard part.

ICE ICE ICE - it was awful this year. We live at the top of an old brick road and once it ices over, it's iced all winter. Then, that requires me to walk up the hill WAY more often than I had planned.

Shorts all year in WY? WOW. I guess I always picture the Marlboro man on his horse in a blizzard. (You youngins: never mind)

what would you recommend for girls when it comes to shoes then? (since there is going to be snow/ice? I really dont want to be falling everywhere!

We dropped potter off last year it was about 70 degrees and sunny. next day I spent 6 hours stuck on I-25 in a blizzard trying to get back to the Academy from denver. Potter didn't bring a coat and was freezing.

Today's weather:
overcast cold
warmed up/sun
1-2 inches of snow with lightening
warmed up enough to melt said snow and make a bit of ground fog as it sublimed
sunny
rained
sunny
nighttime.

Even though it snows this time of year, it's not really that cold. At least not for us Rocky Mountain folk. Today; even though we got about 2-3 inches of snow; was in the low 40's. That's pretty warm. Nights will get a little cooler.

As far as what to wear; that depends on your body. If you all wore jeans, you would be fine. Sneakers are good and comfortable. For the western folk, boots are normal. Assuming they're wearing boots and not show boots like for weddings and such. Comfortable is the key. For the top, just bring layers. Where a short sleeve type of shirt but also bring a sweatshirt and a jacket. Whatever you would wear for 40 degree days. I've lived in Austin and Biloxi. Both get to 40 at times. Now, if you're from Hawaii or Miami; then you're on your own.

So; sneakers or cockroach killers
Short sleeve; sweatshirt; and jacket. You can mix and match
Jeans or cords.

Skirts and dresses are fine, but you'll probably be alone. Even the locals stay away from that for another month unless you're an indoor office worker.

For you sunbirds; watch the movie "Cool Runnings". The scene where the Jamaica Bob sled team arrives in Canada for the Olympics. Not quite that bad of a culture shock. However, your first January here will be something else. Hee Hee Hee.

P.S. FWIW; the first seminar; next week; 14th and 15th is suppose to be mid 60's with only a 10% chance of snow. That's the plan. The good thing is if you don't like the weather, just wait 15 minutes; it'll change.
