Just learned from our congressman’s office that this year he (i.e. Texas district 11) is sending eleven appointees to USAFA. Evidently all ten of his nominations were accepted to the academy. Can any other district out there equal or top that?

I think our California District 19 got close to 9 or 10.

If they say each congressman can only have 5 cadets at an academy how can they have all ten nominations accepted? Just wanted to know.

My district (Texas District 19(Lubbock/Abilene)) had 6 or 7 and one to the Prep School. I think nobody or maybe 1 person from Abilene got in, but the other 6 and the Prep School person all came from the Lubbock area.

Lets hear it for the Texan Contingency!

Could be senator nominations helping, or pres etc. that were multiples? Colam and I are the only cadets in my district I know going for 2010 (10th district [west houston to austin]) That is that I have met, there are others. I know 3 other guys in my area for 14th.

Hey, do any Texas peeps know if they got Cornyn's spot. He had one, and he invited me to a celebration ceremony, so I'm wondering how that works.

usafa21astr-As far as I know, peopl that recieve LOA's do not count towards a rep's academy slots. That's probably why RTBdad's district is sending 11-possibly only one of them didn't have a Letter of Assurance (of course, more than that is possible).

They are quailified alternates. MOC primary, VP and presidential are about 650 per class. The other 600 plus are made up of alternates.

Oh, now I get it.
