Texas MOC's

I just spoke with our Senators’ offices (and my congressman’s).

Cornyn will mail his nominees on Friday, no other communication (ie phone calls).

Hutchison will mail her nominees after Christmas.

10th District (McCaul) has sent letters requesting interviews today (Nov 15) for Dec 3rd and will nominate in January.

Hope this helps anyone in Texas.

thanks! wow....cornyn this friday! AAAAAAAAAH....the wait is so agonizing, it's killing me....

hutchinson after xmas, not suprised....i'm very surprised on cornyn's speed!

hm...i'm in the 3rd district, sam johnson, january, last i called

thanks for the info! i know a lot of us are from texas :)

I got my letter from McCaul. My interview is at 2:15-2:30 for any other McCaul people. And if anyone else will be in Austin on Dec 3rd, then give me a shout.

Hey guess what? My interview with McCaul is at the exact same time! haha

what a coincidence. ;)

Still no word from Cornyn on my end. Do you think he will send rejection letters to all those who didn't receive his nominations or are we supposed to figure it out after a couple of months and no letter saying we got a nomination?

that's what I have been wondering, im calling tomorrow.

i got my Cornyn nomination to AFA! i got the mail on tuesday, the 22nd....and i am THRILLED!

question: can senators/congressmen nominate one person for 2 academies? or can senators/congressmen nominate the same candidate for the same academy? i dont' quite understand the sequencing, i'm also applying to usna, and on all of my app papers, i ranked AFA as my first choice and usna as my second....will hutchinson or johnson be able to nominate me for usna as well?

i'm trying to keep my options open, i still waver between the 2, especially since i got loa's from both. thanks!

OH! and for you Cornyn-waiters, here's a little clue: if the people who wrote you recommendations for Cornyn received a thank-you note from him, signed by him with a code on the bottom, you've got one...if not, it's unsure.

OMG, the thank you letters have a code on the bottom. If I don't get a nomination from him I'm going to hunt you down avgirl! Getting my hopes WAY up! ;) Maybe a letter in the mail today.....

Thanks for the info, very much!

hey aviationgirl: is that hint positively correct? because one of my teachers commented that she got a thank-you note from cornyn, but i don't want to get my hopes up...she didn't say anything about a code on the bottom, but i know she got a thank-you. Thanks for the info!

wait, do you mean the JC:(three letters) or is it actually like numbers or something. Cause if its JC, that's the secretary note. (My mother trying to destroy my dreams right there....;) )

I'm Soooo Confused Now!

I meant to put JC: (three letters). no smileys on there.

I just tried calling thier office, they don't open back up till monday, so I'm crossing my fingers in the meantime.

megbee119: yes, one of the people who received a thank you note called and they asked him these things: 1. did john cornyn actually sign it? (test by licking your finger & smearing, if it smears, JC signed it) and then if there is a code @ the bottom (i'm not sure what the code is, but on my nomination letter, it says: JC:das) if so, then that candidate should be receiving a nomination.

he called in october when he received it, so she said 'should be.' i dunno what they are saying now, but if a student calls, they say nothing, a recomendee must call, even then, it is disclosed information. He asked her to look me up, and she said that i was definately getting one, my package was very strong, i got an LOA, and my overall stats were 'sky-rocketing' above the average.

The reason my physics teacher got this info was b/c he was former military personnel, and if you were military personnel, you are supposed to be given permision to speak to these representives if you want.

Anyways, just thought i would let you know, any word yet on anyone else?

OMG. I JUST RECEIVED MY NOMINATION FROM SENATOR CORNYN!!!

Mine has the JC: das on it (Might be Anna Smith's initials) so ya, im jumping around like an insane idiot!

congrats hornet and aviation girl '

umm the JC:das is standard typing ettiquette. It means that his secretary typed it and that he dictated it. That's why it's his initials (JC) and then his secretary's initials (das). If you look at any official documents (Our principal sometimes sends out letters that have that at the bottom for congratulations for awards), it will probably have it. If it means you got it, then good luck - but it's standard behavior for "important people" who send letters.

usna_avgirl and hornetguy:

Congratulations on getting the nomination! That's yet another big step in this process. And let us know when the appointments arrive.

Congrats usna_aviationgirl and hornet.

McCaul interview 10-10:15

Got denied by Cornyn; I was expecting it for various reasons...
Helped me know the reality of how difficult it is going to be to grab an appointment. If anyone else receives a denial, don't be bummed. Let it be your motivation to try harder.
