Has anyone received an appointment yet that hasn't received LOA?

For AFA I didn't have a LOA and was offered an appointment...I would assume it's similar at NA.

Yes, only a Scholastically Qualified letter prior to appointment (coded in CIS on 14DEC05, but not letter-dated until just after the New Year). Presidential and Congressman Noms were both already in at that point and file was complete since October.

Yea, me. I received my appointment on 12-28-05.

Dad2B,
Did the scholastically qualified letter show up on CIS or were you referring to the letter of appointment that was coded on CIS? Thanks!

My son got his appointment without an LOA last weekend. But he only got all his application stuff in in late December. I thought LOA's were sent out if you got everything in in the fall-like early decision. Are they still giving LOA's at this late date

Letters of Assurance are used early in the Admissions Cycle. At this juncture, they would either tell you what you're missing, let you know that you're triple Q'd, or offer you an appointment. LOAs are an attractor to top notch candidates early in the cycle basically telling you that if you are medically ok, pass the PT test, you'll get an appointment.

My daughter received her LOA on Jan 23 - two weeks after her record was complete

For the most part you might receive an LOA if you're missing something or waiting for a medical question to be resolved, or a teacher's rec. For all concerned:
"The deadline for submission of all USNA Application material is March 1, 2006. In the past, this deadline has been flexible due to delays in the mail. However, this year the deadline will not be extended. The only application document sent through the mail is the official high school transcript and this will need to be mailed by the candidate or the school in time to be in our office no later than March 1, 2006. No documents will be entered into the system if they are received after this date.

On March 1, 2006 the Candidate Information System will be disabled to candidates and no information will be able to be submitted. Please ensure that all of your candidates are aware of this deadline. All candidates with documents missing from their application have been mailed letters on November 1, 2005 and December 1, 2005 letting them know the incomplete status of their application. Additionally, all of them have access to their application status on the Candidate Information System. Therefore, there should be no surprises as to the status of their applications."
