The poster is giving their highschool weighted and unweighted GPA, not the UF GPA. UF GPA is all that UF will care about and yes AP is weight one point higher. It is possible that the OP’s HS GPA goes up higher than 1 point depending on what county they are in. For example in Orange County Public Schools, they weight Honors 1 extra point and AP 2 extra points.

Plus you never know what happens to the GPA when they throw out the non-academic classes to get to the UF GPA.

tzais01, you’re correct. All dual-enrollment/AP courses are weighted out of 6 points.

My rank is top 15% - 30/258
Concerning the UF gpa, I am having trouble trying to compute it since I have taken 24 high school courses and 22 college courses. So I have a bunch of social sciences, english classes, etc (even when throwing non-academic classes). It’s a bit confusing when I tally everything up and I’m not confident I’m getting an accurate result. Can someone shed some light on this?

It pays to question them if you think your UF GPA is different than what they tell you. I had calculated my D’s at 3.97 which would round up to 4.0 and they calculated something between 3.9 and 3.94 that rounded to 3.9 because they round to the nearest tenth.
It turns out they had not included high school credits earned in middle school which were on the HS transcript and factored into the HS GPA. We provided our calculation, they double checked theirs, found it to be wrong, and fixed it on their end.

At UF, the GPA at 4.0 is much more highly regarded than 3.9, so this may have been what tipped her over to the accepted bunch.

Ask UF what they’ve calculated as your UF GPA and question them if you think yours is higher.

thanks i didnt even think of that. i had 3 classes from middle school. but i did pretty good this semester so i think it may move to 4.0 but thanks for the info, ill call them and send my grades sometime tomorrow.

FACTS.org baby… that tells you your Florida weighted GPA. See your guidance counselor if you haven’t heard of it. Every public HS student has an account in there. It shows your weighted GPA that is used by the Florida state U’s. It’s the middle one

I just checked my GPA on Facts.org right now and it was a lot lower than what I expected. When I used UF’s formula to calculate GPA (academic classes + all AP/IB classes + .5 for honors and 1 for IB/AP) my GPA was around 3.9-4.0. But Facts shows my GPA as 3.48. Is this accurate? If so, I don’t even qualify for Bright Futures :/

Pro: Your UF GPA probably places you in the top 80% at UF.
Cons:Your ACT of 25 places you in the lower 25% of accepted students.
Your class rank of top 15% is probably the killer.

The trend appears to be top 10% or better and you are in regardless of test scores especially if you are top 5%.

HOWEVER, you may want to check the fact that you will have your AA by May. You may be automatically treated as a transfer student. Your college GPA of 3.0 may then hurt your chances.
