***APRIL 2015 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD***

First time taking ACTs, took the SATs in January and failed the writing section:(. I’m so scared for this test…
I heard from friends that took the ACTs this year that theres a new part(not in the red real ACT prep book) in the reading section similar to the dual SAT comparing reading passages. Not sure how to feel about that…

I get like 33/34 on the practice in the red ACT book, anyone know how that compares to real ACT scores? I’m honestly kind of surprised cause I only got a 2060 on my SAT…Should i expect something vastly different or a somewhat close score?

Taking it on the 18th! Anyone know how the red ACT book practice tests compare to the actual ACTs ? (scorewise?) I’m really nervous for this test since I did pretty badly on my SATs…

Just be aware of the Double Passages… They are not on the red books.

I want the Princeton books! Barron’s was a lot of help!

I use Kaplan’s prep book (large blue book) and love it. I also use Barron’s ACT flashcards.

I’m taking the ACT test on April 18. From what I heard, there has been changes made for the past few tests such as the new dual passage for the reading section and no more 5 questions passage for the science section. I would like to know more about what has been change for each sections of the test. Thank you!!!

I don’t think that 5 question passages have been removed from Science section. Can you tell me you source?

I’m taking it too! It is going to be my first time so I’m kind of nervous but I took the SAT last month. I’m using the red book (Real ACT) to prep by taking the sections timed and I’ve found it really helpful so far!

I’ll be taking it my third and most likely final time. Last time I achieved a 29. Although it’s considered a good score, many school I want to apply to have around 32ish average ACT. It’s unfortunate and extremely luck at the same time that in terms of score, I’m very unbalanced. I clearly accel in reading and science, but lack hard in math. This way I know what specifically to study, but I have a lot of it to do ;). I find it almost ironic that I do very well in all my math classes and when I’m taking the ACT, the math section feels extremely easy. I probably make a ton of silly mistakes. Oh well. Any specific formulas you guys recommend? From my experience, the ACT loves to ask area questions as well as distance and midpoints of a line.

First time :

C 29
E 27
M 28
R 30
S 30

I have barely studied but to prepare for next week I’m going through the ol’ “ACT Red Book” or the Real ACT. I’m focusing on Reading and English cause they’re actually really easy it’s just real easy to f**k up

I also got a 1660 on the SAT so you already know I’m done with College Board lmao. I’m going for a 32 on the ACT

I am focusing on reading and English, too @0br0123

I understand, @JackLuzzy … I am trying for that, too

FOUR DAYS!!!

3 days.

Yikes

My first time taking it, and I must admit Im quite a bit nervous. For my first time I’m not expecting anything 30+ however my ultimate goal after I take it 3 times is to end up somewhere around the 32 or 33 range

2 days.

Can someone explain the double passage? Which section has the double passage? Is it science or prose or what? I’m assuming it replaces on of those.

Ditto, what are these double passages of which you speak?

Does anyone know what to do with the rhetorical skills???
